Features: Zheng Banqiao (1693-1765), styled Xie, known as Banqiao, was born into a declining scholarly family in Xinghua, Jiangsu. He was renowned for his "three excellences" in poetry, calligraphy, and painting, and was one of the "Eight (Unconventional Masters)" of the early Qing Dynasty painting scene. He proposed the three creative processes of "the bamboo in the eye," "the bamboo in the heart," and "the bamboo in the hand," developing Su Shi's theory of "having a fully formed bamboo in mind" in painting. Zheng Banqiao excelled in painting orchids, bamboo, and rocks, with a style that was fresh, elegant, vigorous, and profound in meaning. His works, such as "Ink Bamboo Painting," are clear, spirited, and exquisitely beautiful, transcending the ordinary and standing out; in "Orchid and Bamboo with Rocks," the rocks rise abruptly, with clusters of orchids and lush bamboo stretching out from the gaps between them, exuding an expansive and unique artistic realm.
