Regarding the function of criminal procedure law, there is a lack of systematic research in China, especially empirical research. In this research project, the research team collected substantial practical materials and data through questionnaires and field surveys, striving to ensure that the research is closely tied to reality. The book takes defining the expected function of specific systems or procedures, examining the designed function of criminal procedure legal norms, and analyzing the actual function of criminal procedure legal norms as its basic approach, proposing countermeasures and suggestions for improving legislation and judicial practices from the perspective of realizing the expected function of legal norms.
