1. This book primarily explains and traces the origins of words from the medieval period that are not included in the Great Dictionary of the Chinese Language.

4. The explained entries mainly reflect the lexical features of the Six Dynasties and Tang periods. When necessary, they trace back to the pre-Qin and Han periods or extend to later eras to illustrate their origins and evolution.
5. The textual evidence is primarily arranged in chronological order, with a few examples slightly adjusted by category. Missing words in cited examples are marked with □.
6. Titles of tomb inscriptions cited in the main text exceeding thirteen characters are shortened appropriately; unclear titles are taken as they are.
7. At the end of the book, there is a list of cited references and supplementary reading materials, including their authors and editions, for readers to verify.
