Features: This book is edited by Professor Lang Jinghe, a renowned expert in obstetrics and gynecology in China. The entire work is planned to be released in three parts. This book is the first volume, covering the current progress and comprehensive review of endometriosis; the second volume will be a systematic report summarizing the authors' research achievements; and the third volume is a popular science book for the general public. The aim is to promote basic and clinical research on endometriosis and share knowledge with the public. Endometriosis has become a common and prevalent disease among middle-aged and young women, with an evident rising trend in incidence, earning it the name "a modern disease." However, its pathogenesis remains unclear, and treatment outcomes are unsatisfactory, making it a hot and challenging issue in gynecology. Since 2000, Peking Union Medical College Hospital has been conducting research on the "Pathogenesis of Endometriosis" under the National Natural Science Foundation of China's key project, led by Professor Lang Jinghe. The authors deeply feel that the issue of endometriosis is vast and complex, with profound underlying mechanisms. Despite the many mysteries, it has only increased their enthusiasm. During this period, they reviewed and studied a large number of domestic and international literature, completing over ten research projects, truly embodying the spirit of "the road is long and arduous, yet I will seek knowledge above and below." This volume compiles a comprehensive summary of recent advances in basic and clinical research on endometriosis, incorporating the latest information from both domestic and international sources. It includes summaries of several international academic conferences, in-depth discussions on pathogenesis, and the principles of drug therapy. Additionally, it covers aspects such as pain and infertility caused by endometriosis, recurrence of the disease, the management of hormone replacement therapy, as well as epidemiology, genetics, pathology (e.g., types and malignancy), sociology (e.g., public education), and evidence-based medicine. Over 1,200 references have been directly read and cited, demonstrating extensive research and providing a key to understanding the development trends in endometriosis research.
