Histology and Embryology are important foundational medical courses, encompassing two morphological sciences: histology and embryology. Through years of teaching and learning in histology and embryology, we believe that relying solely on lectures and textbook reading makes it difficult to grasp and understand the key content. Consequently, students may struggle to firmly master the fundamental knowledge and theories of histology and embryology, fail to fully digest and absorb the subject matter, and cannot objectively self-assess their understanding. To enable students to fully master the professional knowledge they learn, cultivate their ability to comprehensively analyze and solve problems, train them in comparing, summarizing, synthesizing, and expressing issues, and help them better learn histology and embryology to lay a solid foundation for other medical foundational courses, we have compiled this "Key Points and Self-Assessment in Histology and Embryology" based on the experience gained from years of teaching, tutoring, answering questions, and creating exam questions. This "Key Points and Self-Assessment" is suitable for undergraduate students in clinical medicine, preventive medicine, stomatology, nursing, and other disciplines at medical colleges. It can also serve as a reference for professional teachers when creating exam papers. The "Key Points and Self-Assessment" is primarily based on the main textbook "Histology and Embryology" edited by Liu Bin et al. (Peking University Medical Press, 2003) and references some domestic and international question banks and related materials. The chapter arrangement is largely consistent with the main textbook, including learning key points, self-assessment questions (including 438 fill-in-the-blank questions, 661 A-type multiple-choice questions, 588 B-type multiple-choice questions, 204 term explanations, and 91 short-answer questions), and reference answers. Additionally, two sets of mock exams are provided at the end of the book for students to self-test their understanding of all content in histology and embryology. Each chapter in this book highlights key content, presenting questions from different perspectives and in various formats to reinforce understanding and help students master the core concepts of histology and embryology.
