Features: The author recorded the stories of Mr. Zhao and others from their past with a sense of admiration and excitement. In my work, I primarily used the interview method of anthropological research, mainly taking the experiences of Mr. Zhao Heyao as a case study, and referred to and quoted the accounts of other elders who had traveled the Tea Horse Road and the writings of scholars who had studied it. While writing this book, I also incorporated my own feelings and experiences from three trips to Tibet. I wanted to recreate that period of history and that way of life as authentically and vividly as possible, for those unforgettable muleteers and packers, for that road that haunted people, and for that way of life that may never exist again. There is so much in it worth remembering.
