Color Atlas of Bovine Diseases: 2nd Edition

Author: (English) Bovine
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2004-05-01
Features: Following two reprints of the first edition (1991) and the publication of several translations, the second edition was published in 2002. At the publisher's suggestion, this edition adopts American spelling. Some images have been removed, with some replaced by better ones, and new images have been added for certain diseases, such as necrotizing enteritis, tail necrosis, melanoma, and sole ulcers. The total number of images has increased from 730 to 752, making this atlas the main color atlas for cattle diseases. However, the main revision task of the second edition is to provide brief descriptions of various diseases, and we hope this will make the atlas more versatile. The atlas avoids recommending specific drug dosages, as the availability and permitted use of drugs vary greatly between countries, and new drugs are constantly entering the market. Readers will see new images of two major cattle diseases in the UK over the past decade, namely bovine spongiform encephalopathy and foot-and-mouth disease, with cross-referencing methods used for differential diagnosis. The atlas is directly aimed at cattle disease workers in various fields worldwide. We hope the atlas continues to serve its purpose.
