The Straight-Cannon Opening Against Horizontal-Car Opening is an ancient formation that has been developed and renewed by modern players. For hundreds of years, it has remained popular, constantly evolving with new variations. It is one of the most commonly used tactical opening types in practical chess matches and also one of the trendsetting openings. The characteristics of this opening are complex variations, intense tension, and strong offensive and defensive capabilities. Both sides have many opportunities to win, demonstrating strong vitality and development prospects. Therefore, it is deeply loved and frequently used by numerous players. This chapter, "Straight-Cannon Opening Against Horizontal-Car Opening," is a direct attack tactic for the first-move cannon player. It primarily employs the straight car to cross the river, patrol the river, or ride the river for offensive and defensive transitions, actively supporting the development of the left-wing infantry, cavalry, and other pieces to organize a first-move offensive.
