It features clear and accessible text explanations, combined with necessary technical analyses of music. Additionally, it prioritizes the "musicality" of the symphony music appreciation textbook while ensuring readability based on rich reference materials. These are the key characteristics of the textbook.
The book is divided into seven chapters, covering three parts according to the different periods of symphony music development and their stylistic features:
(1) The historical evolution, general overview, various styles and schools of symphony music, as well as the historical background, artistic characteristics, and achievements of representative works.
(2) Essential knowledge required for appreciating symphony music.
(3) Appreciation of outstanding symphony works by famous composers from China and abroad.
With a weekly teaching schedule of 2 hours, the textbook is designed to be completed within one semester, which spans 17 weeks. This book can serve as a textbook for aesthetic education in public arts courses at ordinary higher education institutions, as supplementary teaching material for music appreciation in music education programs at teacher training institutions. Due to its rich references and clear explanations, it is also suitable as a self-study textbook for adult continuing education and young people seeking to improve their musical cultural literacy.
