This series is organized by the Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads and is a research outcome of Beijing Step-by-Step Quality Education Research Institute. Since its publication by the Olympic Press, it has stood out uniquely and is deeply loved by teachers, parents, and students. After significant revisions, re-editions, or complete rewrites, it has been renamed as "Golden Medal Olympiad" and "Golden Medal School" series, and is now re-published and distributed by Jinghua Publishing House. At this re-publication, sincere gratitude is extended to millions of readers across the country.
The Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiad (abbreviated as Subject Olympiad) is a competition activity in China with the widest coverage, the largest number of participants, and the greatest influence among primary and secondary school students. Subject Olympiads are derived from and extended from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other influential international middle school subject competitions that attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the strong innovation, flexibility, and comprehensiveness of the Olympiads, as well as their focus on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness. These are precisely the core elements of quality education, which are also essential for future development.
Based on years of in-depth research on this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to compile and publish a series of books on mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information technology—comprising over 200 varieties. In terms of variety, quantity, and quality, our Olympiad books are considered the most influential among peers both domestically and internationally and are the most appealing to primary and secondary school teachers and students.
The compilation purpose and characteristics of the "Golden Medal Olympiad," "Golden Medal School," and "Exam Master" series are as follows:
1. High: Derived from textbooks but exceeding them. Derived from textbooks means referencing the latest [curriculum standards] issued by the Ministry of Education; exceeding textbooks means closely aligning with competition syllabi at all levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and skill requirements. This cultivates interest, develops intelligence, and enhances abilities.
2. Accurate: Scientifically precise and well-structured. Each book is designed according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a step-by-step approach to provide in-depth yet accessible analysis and detailed problem-solving methods.
3. Innovative: Features novel and engaging question types. It compiles the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both China and abroad, representing the highest level of current Olympiad standards and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as new ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
4. Selective: Carefully chosen examples are challenging yet logical, flexible, and achievable. Emphasis is placed on generalization and transferability; multi-solution, multi-variable, and multi-question approaches are encouraged. Focus is on training thinking skills without resorting to rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
5. Renowned: Gathered by famous teachers and competitions. The Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited renowned professors, special-grade teachers, senior teachers, subject leaders, and famous Olympiad gold medal coaches to co-author these books.
