How are follicular cysts formed?

Patient's question:

Since last month, I have been feeling that my gynecological condition is quite serious. Sometimes I feel a slight pain in my lower abdomen, and there is a lot of fluid discharge from the lower part of the vagina. Today, after examination, it was said that I have follicular cysts. So, how are follicular cysts formed?

Doctor's answer:

You should be referring to an ovarian cyst. Ovarian cysts are the most common gynecological condition. They have a cystic structure with liquid inside, most of which are caused by inflammation, and sometimes they are related to abnormal levels of endocrine hormones. If your ovarian cyst is not large in size and the diameter is not less than 5 centimeters, it can be temporarily left untreated. You can have a follow-up check-up in about two weeks. If the diameter is already less than 5 centimeters, it is best to have surgery to remove it in a timely manner.
