Is there a connection between white discharge with blood streaks and endometrial polyps?

Patient's question:

I have blood streaks in my leukorrhea, but not much blood, and it disappears within a couple of days. This has been happening for three or four months. Recently, for the past two months, my leukorrhea hasn't had any blood, but starting this past Tuesday, it has had a bit of blood, which lasted for about a day and then disappeared. Is it related to endometrial polyps?

Doctor's answer:

The white discharge has blood streaks. One consideration is a problem with the uterus. Endometrial polyps can cause white discharge with blood streaks. Another possibility is ovulation bleeding, which also occurs with blood streaks, usually around the mid-cycle. Additionally, cervical lesions, such as cervical polyps, cervical erosion, or precancerous cervical lesions, may also cause this. This requires a cervical Pap test and HPV test. If you suspect endometrial polyps, this diagnosis needs to be confirmed with a hysteroscopy. A 4mm polyp is generally not operated on temporarily.
