What are the causes of endometriosis?

Patient's question:

I have endometriosis, I am 26 years old, and I am not divorced. However, I have had many sexual experiences. I usually experience menstrual cramps, and apart from having a very small amount of menstrual flow, I am very troubled by this disease. What are the causes of endometriosis?

Doctor's answer:

Ignoring menstrual hygiene, engaging in sexual activity during menstruation, unnecessary gynecological internal examinations, or excessive pressure during massage, and using vaginal suppositories during menstruation can easily increase the risk of retrograde menstruation and blood volume. Abnormalities of the reproductive organs, including congenital developmental abnormalities and acquired ones, can contribute to this issue. Congenital developmental abnormalities include conditions such as uterine malformation, transverse vaginal septum, and hymen atresia. Acquired abnormalities may result from factors like induced abortion, uterine and vaginal surgery, or vaginal medication, leading to adhesions in the cervix, cervical os, vagina, and vaginal orifice. This prevents menstrual blood from being expelled outside the body, increases intrauterine pressure, and causes menstrual blood to flow backward into the pelvic cavity.
