How is endometriosis caused?

Patient's question:

My daughter is only 22 years old this year, but a few days ago after a thorough examination, the doctor said she has endometriosis. How did endometriosis come about?

Doctor's answer:

The etiology of endometriosis, there are several views in clinical diagnosis: the ectopic implantation theory, also known as the retrograde menstruation theory. During menstruation, the glandular epithelium and stroma of the endometrium can flow backward with the menstrual blood, pass through the fallopian tubes, and enter the pelvic cavity, implanting in the ovaries and at the lowest position of the uterosacral ligaments, where they grow. This also explains why lesions are most commonly found in the ovaries and uterosacral ligaments in clinical diagnosis. The result of endometrial spread through the bloodstream and lymphatic system is another common reason for the recurrence of endometriosis in organs outside the pelvic cavity.
