Patient's question:
Divorced for two years and unable to conceive, a colleague suggested I have my fallopian tubes checked for blockages. Can ultrasound thoroughly examine whether the fallopian tubes are blocked?Doctor's answer:
B cannot thoroughly examine how the fallopian tubes are blocked; it can only preliminarily observe whether the fallopian tubes are thickened or if there is fluid accumulation, which can be detected through ultrasound. However, ultrasound cannot determine how the fallopian tubes are blocked. A tubal contrast examination is required to confirm the diagnosis. The tubal contrast examination should be performed within 3 to 7 days after menstruation is clean.
