Features: The subject Olympiad for primary and secondary schools (briefly referred to as the subject Olympiad) is a competition activity for primary and secondary school students in China that covers the widest range, attracts the largest number of participants, and has the greatest influence. The subject Olympiad draws inspiration from and extends the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other influential subject competitions for secondary school students worldwide, which are eagerly anticipated and followed by millions of young students every year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the Olympiad's strong emphasis on innovation, flexibility, comprehensiveness, and the cultivation of students' exploration skills and innovative awareness, which are precisely the core elements of quality education. This is also the need for future development. Based on meticulous research over the years on this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as on a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Board of the Subject Olympiad for Primary and Secondary Schools has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to compile and publish a series of Olympiad books titled "Gold Medal Olympiad" and "Gold Medal School," covering a total of more than 200 varieties in seven subjects: mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information science. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our Olympiad books, we are arguably the most influential in both domestic and international peers, and are the most appealing to primary and secondary school teachers and students. The compilation purpose and characteristics of the "Gold Medal Olympiad" and "Gold Medal School" series are as follows:
1. High: Derived from the curriculum but exceeding it. Derived from the curriculum means referring to the new [curriculum standards] issued by the Ministry of Education; exceeding the curriculum means closely aligning with the competition syllabi at all levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and ability requirements, thereby fostering interest, developing intelligence, and enhancing skills.
2. Accurate: Scientifically precise and well-structured. Each book is designed hierarchically according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a progressive principle, offering in-depth yet accessible analysis and comprehensive, detailed problem-solving methods.
3. Innovative: The selected question types are novel, unique, and highly engaging. They gather the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both China and abroad, representing the highest level of current Olympiad standards and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as new ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
4. Refined: Carefully selected examples are challenging yet not obscure, flexible, and attainable. The focus is on generalization and cross-application; multiple solutions, variations, and extensions of single problems are emphasized. Emphasis is placed on training thinking skills rather than rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
5. Renowned: A gathering of distinguished teachers and a collection of elite competitions. The Editorial Board of the Subject Olympiad for Primary and Secondary Schools has invited renowned professors from top universities, distinguished teachers from key secondary schools, senior teachers, subject leaders, and famous Olympiad gold medal coaches to contribute to the series.
