Features: To master the species and distribution of parasites in China's livestock and poultry, the Shanghai Institute of Parasitic Diseases of Livestock and Poultry, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, organized more than 30 veterinary parasitology scientists from different regions of the country to collect data and compile the "List of Parasites in Chinese Livestock and Poultry." This book provides a general introduction to the various parasites of common livestock and poultry in China, reflecting the geographical distribution of various parasites across the country in a relatively comprehensive manner. It facilitates readers' understanding of the overall picture of parasites in China's livestock and poultry, provides basic data for in-depth research in parasitology, and serves as a basis for formulating prevention and control plans for livestock and poultry parasitic diseases and zoonotic parasitic diseases.
Parasites are part of the animal kingdom, so this book also enriches the fundamental data of animalology and biology in China, contributing to the development of biological sciences. It can also be used for international academic exchanges.
The compilation of this book primarily follows the classification system of parasites in the book "Veterinary Parasitology and Control" edited by Zhao Huiyuan. Specifically, protozoa are mainly classified according to Levine (1985), trematodes and cestodes are mainly referenced to LaRue (1975) and Yamaguti (1974), nematodes are mainly classified according to Yamaguti (1961), acanthocephalans are classified according to Meyer (1931), and arthropods are mainly classified according to Krantz (1978), Jin Daxiong (1996), Chen Tianduo (1996), Li Guizhen (1996), and Liu Deshan (1996). For classifications below the family level, more reasonable classification methods have been improved, such as the nematodes of the genus Strongylidae being classified according to the revision suggestions of Kong Fanyao (2002).
