Features: A good mathematics handbook that can accompany you throughout your life and benefit you for a lifetime. — A. Einstein. With the progress of science and technology, the influence and driving role of mathematics on contemporary science and even the entire society have become increasingly significant. Modern mathematics has almost permeated all disciplines. Mathematical science not only helps people acquire information and benefits but also grants them wisdom and creativity. Whether or not people apply mathematical concepts to quantitative thinking has become one of the indicators for measuring the scientific and cultural quality of a nation. It is hard to imagine that a researcher, manager, or engineer technician lacking modern mathematical concepts and not mastering modern mathematical ideas and methods could become a creative science and technology or management talent in the new century. Mathematics plays a vital role in higher education and plays an irreplaceable role in cultivating the scientific quality and abilities of advanced science and education talents. The publication of this handbook aims to allow readers to conveniently and efficiently consult the content of the various branches of mathematics they need. We strive to balance the relationship between traditional and modern content. While strengthening the foundation and introducing basic content, we pay attention to incorporating the concepts, methods, terminology, and symbols of modern mathematics, providing appropriate windows and interfaces for the modern mathematics to be displayed and extended, promoting the organic integration and mutual penetration of related courses and content, and connecting with practical applications by introducing various commonly used mathematical ideas and methods. The content of this handbook includes commonly used branches of mathematics such as sets and mappings, elementary mathematics, analytical geometry, differential calculus, integral calculus, sequences and series, algebra, differential equations, probability theory and mathematical statistics, complex functions, computational methods, integral transformations, special functions, and optimization. The features of this handbook are: rich content, appropriately challenging, well-organized; the exposition of basic concepts, theories, and methods is, clear, and accurate, making it convenient for consultation. This handbook has a relatively wide applicability. In addition to university and graduate students, it is also suitable for self-study readers and those engaged in scientific research, management, and engineering technology. The chapters , 2, 3, 6, 7, and the eleventh chapter were written by Lu Shaohua; the sections of chapters 4 and 5, as well as the part of the eighth chapter were written by Wang Jiashan; the second part of the eighth chapter and chapters 9, 10, 12, and 13 were continuation written by He Caixing; and the fourteenth chapter was written by Xiao Liuqing. Other contributors include Wang Wei and Li Jian. The authors hope that the publication of this handbook will help readers achieve learning and improvement in related mathematical content with relatively short time and less effort, serving as a bridge on their path to success.
