1. Golden Mirror of Famous Physicians in Ancient and Modern Times for Clinical Practice: The intention is to select experiences from ancient and modern clinicians in traditional Chinese medicine that are beneficial for clinical practice, serving as references. Following this standard, ancient literature is primarily selected from the Ming and Qing dynasties.
2. Organization: Each volume begins with ancient literature, followed by modern works (those still living in 1949 are included as modern physicians). Below, diseases are listed, followed by the experiences of various experts. Ancient physicians are generally arranged by birth and death dates. Under each disease, systematic discussions come first, followed by medical conversations and case studies. Some theoretical discussions are placed at the beginning if their content is not suitable for the end. The experiences of experts under each disease are mostly in one chapter. Some experts are too numerous to be combined into a single chapter.
3. Experts: All physicians included in the volumes are renowned masters, but introductions may be incomplete, and some with unknown birth and death dates are unfortunately omitted.
4. Sources and Editors: All sources and editors are listed at the end. Those not listed were either self-authored by the elderly or the materials provided did not include them, or were omitted in transcription. We kindly ask for your understanding.
5. Ancient Literature: The principle is to maintain the original form of ancient texts. For those with unclear formats, minor organization is applied. Some texts are excerpts from the original works, focusing on practicality to avoid repetition and grasp key points.
6. Measurement Units: Ancient texts follow traditional units, while modern works use legal units. This dual system is necessary.
7. Prescriptions: The writing styles of prescriptions from (lì dài - generations) physicians vary, and while drug names are standardized, it was deemed inconsistent with the original style, so most are retained as is.
8. Revisions and Reorganizations: Some elderly scholars were invited to revise or reorganize the articles to highlight key points, making the main ideas clear and fresh. Or, if the content was disorganized, it was restructured to clarify the points, like cutting leaves to reveal flowers, or clearing clouds to reveal the moon.
