Features: In recent years, the question formats of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) listening section have evolved from simple to complex, from general to specific, and from broad comprehension to detailed analysis. The number of words beyond the exam criteria, especially in compound sentences, has increased. Questions requiring detailed comprehension of spoken statements have become more common. Additionally, the selection of questions has become more similar, the differentiation between diagrams has decreased, and the difficulty of judgment has increased. Currently, some candidates with approximately three to four years of Japanese study, particularly in professional settings, average only scores of 50-60 in the Level 1 listening exam. General non-professional test-takers fare even worse. Clearly, the listening exam has become a major challenge for candidates. This book was published to address this challenge. It categorizes authentic test questions from 1990 to 1999 and provides statistical analyses of frequently tested vocabulary, colloquial expressions, sound changes, abbreviations, ambiguous statements, and common question types in past exams. Based on this statistical analysis and actual exam question patterns, the book is structured into four parts: Listening Foundation Practice, Picture-Based Listening Comprehension, Diagram-Free Listening Comprehension, and Listening Comprehension Answer Key. The Listening Foundation section includes 5 basic practice sets and 3 listening skills. Readers can adjust the difficulty level by skipping familiar chapters or repeatedly practicing challenging sections. The Picture-Based and Diagram-Free Listening Comprehension sections, in addition to exercises, also feature relevant vocabulary, sentence patterns, and related knowledge before and after each category, aiming to truly enhance listening comprehension skills.
