Patient's question:
Last year after giving birth, I developed some gynecological infections, but since the symptoms were not obvious, I didn't take them seriously. Recently, I've been feeling itchy around the vagina, and I can't scratch it either. Even urination is a bit painful, so I had to go to the hospital for a thorough examination. They said I have candidal vaginitis. It's really frustrating.Doctor's answer:
Candidal vulvovaginitis is caused by a fungal infection, and its basic treatment methods are as follows.1. Change the pH of the vagina, such as using alkaline drugs to rinse the vagina, or using a 2–4% soda solution to rinse the vagina to alter the living environment of the fungus.
2. Medication treatment
(1) Local application of antifungal gel, twice daily.
(2) Oral administration of 400 mg of ketoconazole, twice daily, for 5 days.
(3) Griseofulvin, see the treatment for trichomonal vulvovaginitis.
Additionally, oral itraconazole or clotrimazole 0.5–1 g, three times daily, or local use of 1–5% ointment or cream, three to four times daily, also yields excellent results.
(5) Local application of a 1%–2% gentian violet solution is a long-standing therapy and highly effective, widely used, but it has the drawback of industrial contamination of underwear.
