Features: Chinese painting art, with its long history and unique characteristics, holds an extremely important position in the treasure trove of Chinese national culture, having written a brilliant chapter. With the development of history, various schools of Chinese painting gradually formed a spectacular scene of diverse flowers and trees competing in beauty, like the Weiwei River converging into mighty rivers, creating a profound and magnificent spectacle. Under the foundation of the Sui, Tang, and Five Dynasties, Song Dynasty painting further developed, with folk painting, court painting, and scholar painting each forming distinct systems while mutually influencing and permeating each other, constituting a rich and flourishing stage of Song Dynasty painting. Yuan Dynasty painting emphasized Confucianism and Taoism, treated scholars with courtesy, and scholar painting dominated the art scene. The integration of poetry, calligraphy, and painting formed a distinct era style, powerfully promoting the vigorous development of later scholar painting. Ming Dynasty painting flourished in both traditional painting categories, artistic schools, and painting themes, with particularly outstanding achievements in ink landscape painting and freehand flower-and-bird painting. Qing Dynasty painting saw the rise of scholar painting, the flourishing of landscape painting, and the prevalence of ink freehand painting, forming many unique painting styles and diverse artistic schools. Among them, scholar painting diverged into two different trends: reverence for tradition and innovation. Based on historical documents, following the chronological order of the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, we have collected 300 classic works by dozens of painters such as Fan Kuan, Ma Yuan, Cui Bai, Ni Zan, Tang Yin, Dong Qichang, and Wang Shimin, publishing them in three volumes divided by landscape, flower-and-bird, and figure painting. During the printing process, both images and text were reproduced in their original form to preserve the authentic flavor for readers. Although this set of books cannot encompass all the masterpieces of the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, it can still provide readers with a general understanding of Chinese painting art during those eras. We believe that the publication of this set of books offers valuable reference materials for researchers of Chinese painting, art history, and faculty and students of middle and higher education institutions. If our efforts can offer any help or inspiration to a broad readership, we are deeply gratified, which is also the purpose of publishing this set of books.
