Mayor's Invitation—A New Lifestyle in America

Features: All 80 authors of this book are from the United States. A very small portion are native-born American Chinese, a small number are technical immigrants from Taiwan and Hong Kong, and the majority are students who came from mainland China after the 1980s. Except for a few, they are basically not writers or figures in the literary world, but rather engineers, teachers, businesspeople, company employees, artists, workers, and housewives. Although writing is not their profession, it is also a way of life and expression for many of them.
Content: I received an invitation from the office of the Mayor of San Francisco, issued in the name of Mayor Brown and Wang Yunxiang, the Consul General of the People's Republic of China in San Francisco. The invitation invited me to attend the flag-raising ceremony celebrating the 53rd National Day of the People's Republic of China at 11:30 a.m. on September 30 at the Market Hall, followed by a banquet at the City Hall. Holding this beautifully designed invitation, I felt deeply. It was as if I was walking along a time tunnel into a long, winding, and bumpy road of Sino-American relations, both dark and bright. I couldn't help but think of many people, especially those friends who have made selfless contributions to promoting friendly relations between the people of China and the United States.
