Publishing Date: 2001-01-01
Features: The full title of the "Nirvana Sutra" is "Mahaparinirvana Sutra," abbreviated as "Nirvana Sutra," comprising a total of 40 volumes. This scripture is included in the Nirvana Division of the Five Major Mahayana Scriptures (the Prajnaparamita Division, the Ratnakuta Division, the Mahasamghita Division, the Avatamsaka Division, and the Nirvana Division), and it holds particular significance among Buddhist followers. This is because, since the introduction of Buddhism into China, the aspiration to become a Buddha has gradually become a spiritual pursuit of the faithful. Since the emergence of the "Nirvana Sutra," it has proclaimed the doctrines of "all sentient beings possess Buddha-nature" and "the Arhat can attain Buddhahood," even suggesting that those who slander the Dharma can also become Buddhas. From then on, the teaching that "all sentient beings can become Buddhas" was established, laying the theoretical foundation for the rapid spread of Buddhism, whose influence became profoundly far-reaching in the future.
