Features: This book is compiled according to the National "Measures for the Classification Administration of Prescription and Non-Prescription Drugs," and it comprehensively includes 6,977 Chinese and Western (chemical) drugs and preparations, as well as newly marketed drugs and preparations from developed countries' pharmacopoeias and pharmacopeias, based on the "National Essential Drug List," "New Pharmacology" (15th Edition), and other sources. Among them, 2,312 drugs and prescriptions (including 409 non-prescription drugs) are detailed, and 3,100 non-prescription drugs are listed. The book is divided into three parts and 56 chapters, providing descriptions and introductions. The General Part introduces the historical development of domestic and international drug classification management systems, China's current "Measures for the Classification Administration of Prescription and Non-Prescription Drugs," the principles of prescription and non-prescription drug classification, the effects of drugs on the body, their metabolic processes, pharmacokinetics, dosage regimens, factors affecting drugs, medication characteristics for special populations, and basic knowledge of drug management. The Specific Part (Part II) covers 24 categories of chemical drugs, including antibiotics, detailing their composition, structure-activity relationships, pharmacological and toxicological effects, clinical applications and methods, drug interactions, adverse reactions, and precautions. The third part introduces 18 categories of traditional Chinese medicine, including their formulas, pharmacological properties, modern research, clinical applications, and indications. It is the first time that the book includes the application methods of some drugs in the treatment of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). An index in both Chinese and foreign languages is provided at the end of the book. After each drug name, the notations [Non-A or Non-B], [], and [] indicate whether the drug is a non-prescription drug, a Class A or B non-prescription drug, included in the pharmacopoeia, or part of the National Essential Drug List, respectively. Drugs without these notations are classified as prescription drugs, serving as a guide and reference for readers and users. The book is comprehensive, rich in content, and uses up-to-date and detailed material. Its structure is clear and refined, balancing fundamental theories with practical techniques. It includes both modern achievements and clinical medication experiences, making it a highly practical reference tool with a broad readership.
