How to treat candidal vulvovaginitis

Patient's question:

I started experiencing an increase in leukorrhea on November 14, 2011. In February, I went to the hospital for a thorough examination and was diagnosed with candidal vaginitis, which began to be treated. At the end, some medication was used to treat vaginal peeling. Then the doctor mentioned that cervical erosion had occurred at one point, wondering if it was due to the medication. After using some medication, the leukorrhea did not completely clear up, and the symptoms would flare up again even when it reduced slightly. Treatment has been ongoing for a long time, but it hasn’t improved. I recently visited a traditional Chinese medicine doctor for medication and soaking, but it didn’t help either. I don’t know what to do anymore, and my menstrual cycle is also irregular. I’ve reached the point of fear. I hope a doctor can help me, as it’s so painful. How can I completely and permanently cure candidal vaginitis?

Doctor's answer:

Candidal vulvovaginitis is relatively stubborn, and treatment requires patience, but it can be cured with basic medications. Examples include Daktarin suppositories, nystatin, or clotrimazole, etc. Avoid using new and special drugs prescribed by the hospital. Use Daktarin in the vagina and take fluconazole orally, alternating the medications for two weeks. Use once again after the next menstrual period, and repeat this for three consecutive cycles. It is also beneficial for cervical erosion. The oral medication can be taken for five days. Pay attention to boosting your immune system, maintaining good personal hygiene, and involving your partner in the treatment. In addition to treating the vaginal infection, patients are advised to pay attention to their diet and maintain a cheerful mood in daily life to enhance their physical condition and slow down the recovery process.
