Patient's question:
Doctor, I've really been feeling very sad these days, because I've been counting each day, and my menstrual period has passed day by day for a week, but it still hasn't arrived. This makes me worry that it's just one of the issues. Besides not having my period, I've also been experiencing unusually heavy bleeding. What on earth is going on?Doctor's answer:
From the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), menstrual disorders and abnormal vaginal discharge are mostly caused by endocrine imbalances in the spleen, liver, and kidneys. From a TCM perspective, there are several conditions:a. Damp-heat – This can lead to external genital itching, yellow vaginal discharge, and a foul odor. It may also cause excessive menstrual bleeding or irregular menstruation. Therefore, women experiencing abnormal vaginal discharge are often prone to menstrual disorders.
b. Kidney deficiency, spleen deficiency, and qi deficiency – These conditions can cause an increase in abnormal vaginal discharge, leading to early menstruation, excessive menstrual bleeding, or prolonged menstrual periods.
