Patient's question:
I am 34 years old this year. Lately, my menstrual cycle has been irregular. Sometimes it comes 10 days earlier, and other times it's delayed by about seven days. Occasionally, when I don't want it to, there's bleeding from my lower abdomen, which scared me. I quickly went to the hospital for a thorough check-up. The doctor had me do an ultrasound and said I have uterine fibroids. I'm very worried.Doctor's answer:
(1) Uterine bleeding: Uterine bleeding is the most common symptom of uterine fibroids. Clinical diagnosis can manifest as menorrhagia, bleeding with cyclical patterns, increasing menstrual volume, often accompanied by prolonged menstrual periods, which is the most common type of bleeding; frequent menstruation with prolonged cycles and continuously increasing menstrual volume; irregular bleeding, loss of normal cyclical patterns, prolonged duration, varying amounts with intermittent leakage, more common in submucosal fibroids. Uterine bleeding is most common in submucosal and intramural fibroids, while subserosal fibroids rarely cause uterine bleeding.
