What are the common symptoms of uterine fibroids?

Patient's question:

My aunt has been experiencing symptoms of urinary urgency and frequency recently, sometimes with a bit of dysuria. Her menstrual cycle has also been getting later, and her leukorrhea has been increasing. When I gently pressed her abdomen with my hand, I noticed a lump. I didn't dare tell her, but I suspect it might be like a uterine fibroid.

Doctor's answer:

Common symptoms of uterine fibroids include uterine bleeding, abdominal mass, vaginal discharge, and symptom control.
(1) Uterine bleeding: Uterine bleeding is the most common symptom of uterine fibroids. Clinical diagnosis may manifest as menorrhagia, with bleeding having a cyclical pattern, increasing menstrual volume, and often accompanied by prolonged menstrual periods.
(2) Abdominal mass: The uterus is located deep in the pelvic cavity. In the early stages of uterine fibroids, an abdominal mass cannot be felt. When the fibroid gradually reduces the size of the uterus to below the size of a 3-month pregnancy, the mass can be detected.
(3) Vaginal discharge: Submucosal uterine fibroids or submucosal cervical fibroids can both lead to increased vaginal discharge. Once the tumor becomes infected, there may be a large amount of purulent discharge. If there is pus, pus, and bleeding, there may be bloody or purulent, foul-smelling vaginal discharge.
(4) Symptom control: Uterine fibroids can cause controlling symptoms in surrounding organs.
