Irregular menstruation, what are the reasons?

Patient's question:

I have my period delayed by 4 to 5 days every month, but this month it has been delayed for half a month and hasn't arrived yet. I took a test and it was negative. I have taken gynecological regulation pills and Fushu pills, but my period is still irregular. I want to know what the reason is?

Doctor's answer:

If there is infrequent menstruation or amenorrhea, it is commonly associated with conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), hyperprolactinemia, hypothyroidism, and certain ovarian tumors. If the menstrual cycle is short, it may be due to poor luteal function. If the menstrual flow is excessive, it could be caused by endometrial hyperplasia, polyps, intrauterine devices (IUDs), abnormal coagulation function, fibroids, or adenomyosis. If the menstrual period is prolonged, it may be due to an IUD, inflammation, tumors, polyps, or uterine incision diverticula. Infrequent menstrual flow is commonly seen in cases of intrauterine adhesions, thin endometrium, or anovulation.
