Features: This textbook consists of 30 lessons, divided into 6 units. Each unit includes 4 main texts and 1 unit review lesson. The texts are categorized by the themes of the audio transcripts. Each main text is composed of three parts: Part 1: News briefs or short reports; Part 2: Audio news reports or recorded literary works of moderate length; Part 3: Multiple-choice exercises. The unit review consists of two parts: 20 multiple-choice questions in the format of the HSK simulation test, and an original audio recording of corresponding length and difficulty. The exercises are in the form of answering questions or true/false statements. The new words and proper nouns in the texts and exercises are not listed together before or after class but are arranged separately after each audio segment. All new words and proper nouns are annotated with Pinyin and provided with Chinese definitions, aiming to cultivate students' ability to understand word meanings in Chinese and reduce reliance on bilingual dictionaries. The exercise formats for each lesson, Part 1 and Part 2 mainly include short answer questions, true/false statements, fill-in-the-blanks, and dictation, while Part 3 is entirely multiple-choice. The audio cassettes are accompanied by both original live recordings and post-production standard recordings.
