Features: Based on the fusion and harmony of East Asian philosophy, it observes the five conflicts and five crises that humanity faces in the 21st century. Through minimal consensus, humanity can achieve the five central values or five principles—harmonious life, harmonious coexistence, harmonious establishment, harmonious achievement, and harmonious love—to integrate various conflicts and crises. The choice of Harmony Studies as the foundation for an overall study of East Asian philosophy in the research on new millennium issues is primarily because this theory allows for the effective resolution of the research subjects. It is also because it aligns with the history and reality of East Asia, making it a feasible goal. In the new millennium, the practical conditions for the development of East Asian philosophy of fusion and harmony will become increasingly sufficient, its scope of activity will expand, and its opportunities for realization will grow. The series "East Asian Philosophy and the 21st Century" was made possible with the support of Professor Zhu Jieren of East China Normal University Press, the specific guidance and peer review of Associate Editor Chen Lifen and her colleagues, and a great deal of effort. On behalf of the research team, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to them. The book is divided into four chapters: "East Asian Cultural Circle," "The Turn of Modernity in the 20th Century," "East Asian Values," and "Harmonious Rebirth in the 21st Century."
