Features: Why do we study Chu Xi's views on natural knowledge? Perhaps some might say that for a figure as important as Chu Xi, every aspect is worth studying, especially since previous research has always focused on ethical and social aspects, often overlooking natural knowledge. Jin Yongzhi has chosen to pursue research that others might not, and thus needs to provide some explanation. Therefore, in this chapter, the first section emphasizes the significance and role of natural knowledge in Chu Xi's entire intellectual life, while the second section examines this question against the backdrop of the entire societal culture and the Neo-Confucian tradition, further exploring the development of Neo-Confucianism after Chu Xi, providing some groundwork for the chapters that follow without offering a complete answer. The latter part of the book discusses the shortcomings of this work.
