The one prefecture and six counties of Huizhou, accompanied by ceaseless commercial activities, have brought a wealth of material wealth and cultural exchanges. Due to its remote inland location, it is like a big-bellied Maitreya Buddha, swallowing a vast amount of physical and textual materials. Moreover, the rational contractual awareness and the tradition of cherishing paper of the Huizhou people have made it possible for us to date to sift through a considerable number of rural documents of great research value from the old papers of our ancestors, despite the wars and cultural disasters they have endured. This is truly a blessing! And precisely because of this, it has become the reason why many humanities scholars are fond of Huizhou and choose to study it. On the other hand, folk culture itself has its own long-standing tradition of continuity. The current state of life in Huizhou still preserves and develops the traditions of its ancestors. Of course, history does not always remain in a certain state. The Xin'an River, once a vital waterway for transportation, no longer has sailing ships bustling and prosperous.
