Features: This textbook is designed for self-study of elementary Japanese. It is written in the form of short plays, telling the story of a Chinese student studying abroad in Japan. The book is divided into four volumes, with thirteen lessons per volume, totaling fifty-two lessons. Each lesson consists of five parts: (1) Text; (2) Vocabulary; (3) Notes; (4) Sentence Patterns · Grammar; (5) Applied Exercises. Additionally, there are appendices. This textbook primarily focuses on natural and standard Japanese spoken language, referencing materials from the National Institute of Japanese Language and Linguistics, and covers the fundamental sentence patterns, grammar, and vocabulary that beginners should master. It aims to enable learners to acquire basic knowledge of Japanese and essential daily expressions through more than a year of study, achieving preliminary practical application. The textbook strives to be easy to understand and convenient for self-study, avoiding excessive grammatical terminology. To help learners break free from textbook language and quickly familiarize themselves with and master the colloquial Japanese expressions used in real life, while also understanding Japanese customs and lifestyles, we have made bold attempts. This textbook was broadcast as a television lecture series in 1985 and was well-received by a broad audience of Japanese enthusiasts across the country. To celebrate the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the Central People's Broadcasting Station and Dalian University of Foreign Languages jointly organized the "Olympic Welcome National Japanese Classroom." This led to the revision and publication of this textbook. We sincerely hope that the "Follow Me in Learning Japanese" radio lecture series can once again spark a nationwide enthusiasm for learning Japanese.
