Publishing such a large-scale collection of linguistic works in just a few months is rare in the history of academic publishing in China. Since its publication, many institutions and individuals have rushed to order it. Graduate and undergraduate students regard the Collection as a valuable guide, while teachers of all ages consider it a source of knowledge renewal. Practice has proven that the Collection, launched by FLTRP, has been widely praised by the domestic linguistic and foreign language teaching communities. It will become a treasure trove for advancing linguistic teaching, research, foreign language teaching, and applied linguistics in China. Building on the success of the first 54 titles, FLTRP is now releasing the second batch of 58 titles. The second batch of the Collection features five key characteristics:
1. It consists of 58 original English-language works, expanding the disciplines covered from 26 in the first batch to 33 now, including newly added fields such as the history of linguistics, philosophy of language, cognitive linguistics, anthropological linguistics, the origins of language, and chemical grammar theories, thereby better meeting the diverse needs of readers;
2. It includes influential works by renowned contemporary linguists such as Saussure, Sapir, Bloomfield, Halliday, Chomsky, Austin, Grice, and Leech, ensuring higher authority;
3. It incorporates classic linguistic works published by world-renowned publishers such as Oxford University Press and Harvard University Press;
4. It still includes expert introductions, with a stronger team of experts than the first batch;
5. The Collection is prefaced by the world-famous linguist Professor Noam Chomsky and the renowned Chinese linguist Professor Jia Xianhan.
This Collection is a large-scale, open-ended series, which will play a positive role in advancing linguistic and foreign language teaching and research in China. In the future, FLTRP will continue to introduce new works, striving to provide readers with the latest and most influential linguistic and applied linguistic publications from abroad.
