Features: The first batch of 54 titles in the "Contemporary Collection of Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics" has achieved great success since its launch in September 2000. The initial print run of 5,000 sets was in high demand, leading to a second print run of 6,000 sets in October. Publishing such a large-scale collection of linguistic works within a short period is rare in the history of academic publishing in China. Since its release, numerous institutions and individuals have rushed to order the collection. Graduate and undergraduate students regard the "Collection" as a valuable guide, while teachers of all ages consider it a source of knowledge renewal. Practice has proven that the "Collection" published by FLTRP has received widespread acclaim from the domestic linguistic and foreign language teaching communities. It will become a treasure trove for advancing linguistic teaching and research, as well as foreign language teaching and research in China. Building on the success of the first batch of 54 titles, FLTRP is now launching the second batch of 58 titles. The second batch of the "Collection" features five key aspects:
1. It consists of 58 original English-language works, covering 33 disciplines—an increase from the 26 disciplines in the first batch. The newly added disciplines include the history of linguistics, philosophy of language, cognitive linguistics, anthropological linguistics, the origins of language, and chemical grammar theories, thereby more comprehensively meeting readers' needs;
2. It includes influential works by renowned contemporary linguists such as Saussure, Sapir, Bloomfield, Halliday, Chomsky, Austin, Grice, and Leech, ensuring higher authority;
3. It incorporates classic linguistic works published by world-renowned publishers such as Oxford University Press and Harvard University Press;
4. It continues to feature expert prefaces, with a stronger team of experts than the first batch;
5. The collection is prefaced by the world-famous linguist Professor Noam Chomsky and the renowned Chinese linguist Professor Shen Jiashun.
This "Collection" is a large-scale, open-ended series of books that will actively promote the development of linguistic teaching and research, as well as foreign language teaching and research in China. In the future, FLTRP will continue to introduce the latest and most influential works in linguistics and applied linguistics, continuously offering them to a broad readership.
