Features: Listening is one of the fundamental skill trainings in English teaching. In our years of teaching, we found that most students and financial professionals with a certain foundation in English have significantly weaker listening and speaking skills compared to their reading abilities. Therefore, we have developed a listening course with a relatively low starting point. We hope to explore a new path in English teaching for students and financial professionals in relevant institutions. Based on our years of English teaching experience, those who lack listening and speaking skills tend to forget the English knowledge they have previously learned. Having a certain level of listening and speaking skills is not only necessary for college and university students but also for the work of financial professionals—it is also an important means of mastering a language. Given this situation, we have compiled an 80-lesson listening course. In compiling this listening course, we adhere to the principle of integrating knowledge, practicality, thoughtfulness, and interest. The language is standardized, and the content is fresh and innovative. The first 40 lessons of this book focus on listening comprehension, numerals, simple dialogues, letters, and common abbreviations used in the financial industry. The latter 40 lessons advance to an intermediate level, emphasizing practice in understanding vocabulary and sentence patterns related to financial business, the monetary systems of the UK and the US, national overviews, economic news reports, and cultural background knowledge. In terms of layout, the book also includes content designed to stimulate thinking and interest. Additionally, to cater to the examination needs of students and financial professionals in relevant institutions, we have included some commonly used test materials. This book consists of a student book and a teacher book. For convenience of use, each lesson in the student book includes a vocabulary list, while the teacher book, in addition to the written materials for the recordings and exercise answers, also provides some reference translations and annotations. This book is not only convenient for self-study and meets the needs of financial professionals but also offers a specialized listening course for English teachers and students in major colleges and universities in China.
