Features: This small book is written to popularize the knowledge of language testing. It is designed for college English teachers, faculty and students of normal universities, especially for secondary school English teachers. It is also of reference value for students of linguistics and learners preparing for English tests at various levels. The book introduces basic knowledge, all of which is explained from the very beginning. The basis for writing this book is: 1. Monographs and papers on language testing published domestically and internationally; 2. The author's own teaching and testing experience; 3. A large number of previously used test papers and questions. To avoid distracting the reader's attention, the theories and viewpoints mentioned in the book do not list their sources one by one. At the end of the book, a list of references is provided for further study. The test examples cited in the book are 95% drawn from published test papers and exercises. Some are used as examples, and some are accompanied by brief comments. Additionally, in some chapters, several sample test papers are appended for reference. The author hopes that by studying these sample test papers, readers can deepen their understanding of the relevant testing theories.
