Features: The first batch of 54 titles in the "Contemporary Collection of Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics" has achieved great success since its launch in September 2000. The initial print run of 5,000 sets was in high demand, requiring a second print run of 6,000 sets in October. Publishing such a large-scale collection of linguistic works in just a few months is rare in the history of academic publishing in China. Since its release, many institutions and individuals have rushed to order. Graduate and undergraduate students regard the Collection as a valuable guide, while teachers of all ages view it as a source of knowledge renewal. Practice has proven that the Collection, launched by FLTRP, has been widely praised by the Chinese linguistic and foreign language teaching communities. It will become a treasure trove for advancing linguistic teaching, research, foreign language teaching, and applied linguistics in China. Building on the success of the first batch of 54 titles, FLTRP is now introducing the second batch of 58 titles. The second batch of the Collection features five key characteristics:
1. Comprising 58 original English-language works, it covers 33 disciplines, an increase from the first batch's 26, including newly added fields such as the history of linguistics, philosophy of language, cognitive linguistics, anthropological linguistics, the origins of language, and grammaticalization theory, thereby more comprehensively meeting readers' needs;
2. Including influential works by renowned contemporary linguists such as Saussure, Sapir, Bloomfield, Halliday, Chomsky, Austin, Grice, and Leech, ensuring higher authority;
3. Adding classic linguistic works published by world-renowned publishers such as Oxford University Press and Harvard University Press;
4. Maintaining expert prefaces, with an even stronger team of experts than the first batch;
5. Prefaced by the world-famous linguist Professor Noam Chomsky and the renowned Chinese linguist Professor Jia Xianhan.
This Collection is a large-scale, open-ended series that will actively promote the development of linguistic teaching and research, as well as foreign language teaching and applied linguistics in China. In the future, FLTRP will continue to introduce works, striving to provide readers with the latest and most influential linguistic and applied linguistic publications from abroad.
