Features: The first 54 titles of the "Contemporary Collection of Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics" have achieved great success since their release in September 2000. The initial print run of 5,000 sets was in high demand, requiring a second print run of 6,000 sets in October. Publishing such a large-scale collection of linguistic works within such a short period is rare in the history of academic publishing in China. Since its publication, many institutions and individuals have rushed to order the Collection. Graduate and undergraduate students regard it as a valuable guide, while teachers of all ages consider it a source of knowledge renewal. Practice has proven that the Collection, launched by FLTRP, has been widely praised by the domestic linguistic and foreign language teaching communities. It will become a treasure trove for advancing linguistic teaching, research, foreign language teaching, and applied linguistics research in China. Building on the success of the first 54 titles, FLTRP now presents the second series of 58 titles. The second series of the Collection features five key characteristics:
1. Comprising 58 original English-language works, the Collection now covers 33 disciplines, an increase from the original 26, including newly added fields such as the history of linguistics, philosophy of language, cognitive linguistics, anthropological linguistics, the origins of language, and chemical grammar theory, thereby meeting broader reader needs;
2. Including influential works by renowned linguistic masters such as Saussure, Sapir, Bloomfield, Halliday, Chomsky, Austin, Grice, and Leech, ensuring higher authority;
3. Adding classic linguistic works published by world-renowned publishers such as Oxford University Press and Harvard University Press;
4. Maintaining expert introductions, with an even stronger team of experts than the first series;
5. Prefaced by the world-famous linguist Professor Noam Chomsky and the renowned Chinese linguist Professor Shen Jiashu.
This Collection is a large-scale, open-ended series that will actively promote the development of linguistic teaching and research, as well as foreign language teaching and applied linguistics research in China. In the future, FLTRP will continue to introduce new works, striving to provide readers with the latest and most influential linguistic and applied linguistic publications from around the world.
