Features: The Shanghai Library holds over 80,000 volumes of old Japanese-language literature published before 1949. These old Japanese-language materials cover a wide range of topics and hold significant historical research value. For example, Shanghai-themed documents include those studying the Shanghai concessions and Japanese residents in Shanghai; historical and cultural documents on Shanghai; and those that directly reflect the Shanghai "January 28th" Anti-Japanese Incident and the "August 13th" Shanghai Incident. These documents are crucial for researching the political, economic, cultural, and educational historical development of Shanghai in the modern era, as well as the history of Japanese aggression in China and the history of Japanese residents in Shanghai. Additionally, there are publications from the late 18th century to the mid-19th century, as well as handwritten manuscripts, many of which are now extremely rare and highly valuable. This catalog includes old Japanese-language literature held by the Shanghai Library, comprising books, journals, collections, pamphlets, manuscripts, and informal publications, published between 1792 (the 4th year of the era) and 1949 (the 24th year of the Showa era), with the majority being books published in the first half of the 20th century.
