Features: The senior high school edition of "One Lesson, Three Drills" adopts a combined format of five and six volumes. This arrangement aligns with the teaching practices in most regions of China, where students complete five to six volumes over a semester. It facilitates solid preparation for the college entrance examination (CET) after ensuring a strong foundation in the regular exams. Specifically, the senior high school Chinese edition of "One Lesson, Three Drills" consists of two sections: "One Lesson, Three Drills" organized by lesson, and "College Entrance Examination (CET) Special Training" based on the 2005 Chinese Language Examination Syllabus.
The revised senior high school edition of "One Lesson, Three Drills," like other grade levels, designs basic, comprehensive, and extended exercises for each text, rather than solely focusing on "Three Drills" for selected texts. This change was made because the senior high school curriculum includes a significant proportion of new texts, and without standardized and rigorous training, students would struggle to meet the demands of the college entrance and regular exams.
In the revised edition, "Basic Exercises" still aim to guide students in understanding the texts and mastering essential skills; "Comprehensive Exercises" focus on in-depth text analysis to strengthen analytical and integrative abilities; and "Extended Exercises" serve as transfer-based training, either broadening, deepening, enhancing, or comparing content. The design and difficulty levels of these exercises align with the college entrance examination reading questions, providing targeted pre-examination training.
The "College Entrance Examination (CET) Special Training" has also been revised. The revision follows two principles: first, to further help students overcome difficulties, and second, to strengthen the training of new assessment items outlined in the 2005 Chinese Language Examination Syllabus. The revised "College Entrance Examination (CET) Special Training" includes:
- Language Knowledge and Expression: Identifying grammatical errors, expanding sentences, summarizing passages, and writing imitations.
- Modern Chinese Reading: Reading articles on natural sciences, social sciences, and prose.
Additionally, special training for classical poetry appreciation and topic-based essay writing has been designed. Given that students can easily find practice materials like mock tests, we did not include such exercises in this revision.
Navigating the academic sea requires courage, but more importantly, it demands wit and insight. To cultivate courage, wit, and insight—this is the goal of "One Lesson, Three Drills."
