Features: Master Bao Dichang is a renowned and virtuous musician in the traditional opera circles of our province. From a young age, he entered the Beijing National Opera School to study traditional Chinese music and later became a disciple of the famous qin player Zhao Yanquan, specializing in the jinghu and serving the Rongchun Society. In the 1940s, he accompanied famous Peking Opera artists such as Xu Biyun, Zhong Mingqi, and the Peking Opera performance artist Zhao Lirong. Before and after the founding of the People's Republic of China, he worked as a qin player, scriptwriter, and vocal design artist for Peking Opera and Peking Opera troupes in Zhangjiakou, Shijiazhuang, and Hengshui. He has created, adapted, and organized many large-scale scripts, including The Generations of Soldiers, Flood, Borrowing a Daughter, and Feng Kui Selling His Wife, and has won local and municipal cultural revitalization awards and scriptwriting awards. He has made significant contributions to the traditional opera industry of our province. The book includes poetry and prose written by Master Bao in his daily life. Some of these works are rich in philosophy, some satirize current events, and others express personal reflections—all deeply felt. The book also includes the author's insights on jinghu performance as well as his family's time-honored remedies for treating illnesses, which have been proven effective.
