Features: Taixu (1889–1947) was a renowned Buddhist scholar and reformer of modern times, advocating for Humanistic Buddhism throughout his life and making significant efforts for the reform and revival of Chinese Buddhism. In 1912, Taixu organized the Buddhist Association for Advancement at Mount Jinshan Temple, initiating reforms in Buddhism. He proposed the concept of Humanistic Buddhism and the idea of engaging with society, renaming the temple's main halls such as the Great Assembly Hall, Meditation Hall, and Dining Hall into social terms like grand auditoriums, reception rooms, offices, and classrooms. He also founded a Buddhist college, dedicating all temple assets as funding for education. However, the endeavor ended due to strong opposition and resistance from abbots Qingquan, Shuangting, and Yinxing, among others.
