Features: The entire textbook series is compiled in accordance with the requirements of the newly issued teaching materials for art education majors in higher education institutions by the Ministry of Education, catering to the practical needs of current teaching. It is based on three fundamental principles:
1. Emphasizing basic education. The richness and complexity of (plastic arts) determine the strict requirements for foundational knowledge and skills, necessitating scientific and systematic learning and training. Students not only master the basic methods and techniques of plastic arts but, more importantly, grasp the essential visual form principles.
2. Focusing on art literacy. Whether in art education or design and art design programs, the students we cultivate should possess not only solid foundational knowledge but also strong art literacy, keen visual awareness, and refined aesthetic tastes.
3. Guiding innovation and exploration. To encourage students' thinking to progress from the elementary to the advanced, from the realm of necessity to the realm of freedom, this textbook series not only emphasizes the education of professional foundational knowledge but also integrates modern teaching concepts, particularly paying attention to guiding visual thinking. It will enable students to approach future explorations more actively and hold significant importance in inspiring creativity.
Plane Composition is a course that studies the surface forms, composition principles, and other aspects of design creation, playing a foundational role in modern art and design education. The primary objective of this course is to enable students to master the basic principles, methods, and expressive techniques of plane composition, enrich their visual language and tools, and enhance their visual aesthetic abilities, analytical thinking skills, as well as their comprehensive organizational and expressive capabilities for plane forms through practice.
The expressive techniques of plane composition should be free and flexible. They can not only adopt mechanical flat-painting techniques but also employ lively, diverse, simple, and playful manual techniques. However, currently, plane composition is mostly still confined to the single and time-consuming flat-painting techniques. This situation is primarily because we have yet to shake off the shadow of patterns from the era of manual craftsmanship. The monotonous flat-painting techniques not only fail to strengthen the study of plane forms but also may induce students to lose interest in learning. At the same time, they can easily exert a negative impact on students' future expressive techniques and styles, leading to a one-dimensional and mediocre influence.
