Is crying more often during menopause a sign of depression?

Patient's question:

Two months ago, my old friend had already started not coming. At first, I didn't feel much, just a sense of melancholy. When my husband and child were around, I wanted to get angry and felt especially heartbroken for them. When they weren't there, I felt a deep ache in my heart and couldn't help but want to cry. During menopause, I just wanted to cry and felt heartache—could it really be depression?

Doctor's answer:

Hello, it reappears during menopause. There is no exclusion that it may gradually expand into depression. Since you can understand that this condition may recur, it is necessary for a person to try to control their emotions, communicate more with family and friends, and engage in appropriate outdoor activities. Having a good mood today will as much as possible reduce the recurrence of this disease.
