Can a intrauterine device (IUD) be inserted with mild to moderate cervical erosion?

Patient's question:

I am 35 years old, have two children, and usually breastfeed using condoms. However, sometimes in emergencies, I don't use condoms. I plan to get an IUD, but I have mild to moderate cervical erosion. Will this affect getting an IUD?

Doctor's answer:

Mild cervical erosion does not require treatment and will naturally recover on its own. It is a relatively common disease and also quite mild. If the cervical erosion is allowed to fully recover before getting an IUD, it would be better. Currently, the best approach is to use condoms for prevention to avoid pregnancy. Alternatively, if cervical erosion is left untreated to fully recover, the primary prerequisite is a lack of sensation, so currently, sexual activity should not occur.
