Features: Wang Ye's monograph "238 Proven Recipes for Hypertension Prevention and Treatment" was kindly gifted to me for study, and he asked me to write a preface. I was delighted, but felt too honored to dare to write for such a distinguished expert. Unable to refuse his repeated requests, I deeply felt the difficulty of declining his kind invitation. This monograph outlines the current prevalence of hypertension in the Chinese population and highlights the harm it poses to people's health and lives, emphasizing the importance and necessity of correctly addressing and actively preventing hypertension. At the age of 76, Professor Wang Ye has been fighting against hypertension since his youth when he joined the revolution as a military healthcare worker. He graduated from the Medical Department of Sun Yat-sen Medical College in the 1950s and served as a (attending physician) in the Health Office of the Guangdong Provincial People's Government. He has been dedicated to combating hypertension and has compiled his experience into this text to pass it on to future generations. This book collects 73 clinical recipes, 70 herbal recipes, 86 self-regulation recipes, and 9 lipid-lowering recipes, totaling 238 recipes. Professor Wang's experience in preventing and treating hypertension includes:
1. Actively facing the condition. Maintain an optimistic spirit, adhere to self-treatment, persevere in controlling high blood pressure to keep it normal or close to normal, and prevent damage to the heart, brain, and kidneys. Professor Wang says, "Hypertension is not (scary), what is scary is when patients refuse to actively face it and do not take serious preventive measures."
2. Regulating blood lipids. This is a crucial aspect of preventing and treating hypertension. Hyperlipidemia refers to excessively high levels of total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C). If high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) is too low, it is considered "good cholesterol," which can transport cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood to the liver for metabolism, thereby lowering blood lipids, preventing atherosclerosis, and thus preventing the occurrence and progression of hypertension. The lipid-lowering recipes in the book are designed for this purpose.
3. Syndrome differentiation and treatment. Using traditional Chinese medicine to prevent and treat hypertension yields excellent results. It involves citing specific formulas, specialized medications, and selecting formulas and medications based on syndrome differentiation. The syndrome differentiation and treatment formulas for different stages and types of hypertension listed in the book are the crystallization of the author's clinical practice. They can be used according to different stages of the disease and clinical characteristics, aligning with the principles of TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment and holding practical clinical significance.
