Features: Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation has been a major advancement in clinical medicine over the past half-century. With the continuous in-depth research and rapid development of related basic medical sciences (such as immunology, genetics, molecular biology, etc.), the understanding of embryonic stem cells, adult stem cells, various tissue stem cells, and even the fundamental laws of life has been constantly promoting the refinement of clinical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation theory, practice, and technology, as well as scientific innovation. Currently, it has become an effective method for curing malignant blood diseases and an important approach for treating certain immune disorders, genetic diseases, metabolic diseases, especially some solid tumors and radiation diseases. Statistics show that approximately 30,000 allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplants and 50,000 autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplants are performed worldwide each year, with an annual growth rate of 10% to 15%. Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in China was pioneered by Academician Lu Daopei of Peking University in the 1960s of the last century and has developed rapidly, achieving sustained progress in the 2000s and beyond. Currently, its experimental and clinical research has advanced rapidly, with continuous accumulation of experience and knowledge, and has been successively promoted in most hospitals across China's provinces and cities, benefiting many patients and saving the lives of numerous patients with malignant diseases. Several specialized books on hematopoietic stem cell transplantation have been published successively, playing a positive role in further promoting the continuous development and widespread application of this field. The publication of Modern Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation, edited by Professor Chen Yunxian as the chief editor and Professors Meng Fanyi and Zhong Xueyun as deputy editors, will undoubtedly further advance theoretical research and clinical practice in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in China. Most of the authors of this book work on the frontline of hematopoietic stem cell basic research and clinical application. They not only possess deep theoretical expertise but also have extensive practical experience. The book provides a relatively comprehensive introduction to the latest theories, technologies, and advancements in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation both domestically and internationally, while also elaborating on the authors' own work practices, experiences, and insights. It serves as an excellent reference book in the field of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. I am willing to recommend this book to a broad readership, and I hope everyone can continue to learn, study diligently, summarize experience, and innovate, opening up a new chapter in China's hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and contributing to the cause of human health.
